Mississippi

We loaded the gliders in the rain and got on the road at 9pm and now in Mississippi at 1am!

With the gliders on the car, it is now a very expensive and precious vehicle!

Over the drive, Ollie (left in picture) entertained us with stories of rattlesnakes, dust devils, thorny landings, praire dog holes to fall into, towing off of concrete, and many other dangers we may face over the next week. I'm now thoroughly scared, but still excited for the BIG Texas air!

Glory Ring of goodness

Flew three hours yesterday and saw my glory ring for the first time! I was enjoying playing around in the docile clouds. It was intense, for a split second I thought it was another glider popping out of the cloud because I only saw it out of the corner of my eye.

Practiced best glide and and trying to climb as effeciently as possible and leaving thermals at the right time to be faster. Flew to Cloudland Canyon SP, 'Stedman's Gap', and then to the drive-in movie theatre as a practice course to get ready for Big Springs. I averaged about 20-22mph for the time it took for me to cover that distance. So I think I did a pretty good job of flying fast between thermals and leaving them when I should.
